Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Even more so than Christmas! I love Thanksgiving because it is a time that people can come together to share what they are thankful for and they can share food and laughter with their families. This holiday is not about the gifts it’s about family and friends and food!
For Thanksgiving I love to share Grace’s Thanksgiving. This is such a great book that can be used to discuss the American holiday of Thanksgiving….
Grace and her family are celebrating Thanksgiving. Grace is very excited because she has family visiting. She is also excited because she stopped her dog from eating all of their Thanksgiving pies! Throughout the book Grace discusses the different ways that her family celebrates Thanksgiving. There are also some Thanksgiving facts weaved throughout the story; including the person that petitioned for this holiday and the President that passed it and made it into a law. This book is such a great way to introduce Thanksgiving to younger students and to those students that might not celebrate Thanksgiving in a traditional American way.
Just in time for Thanksgiving I have made a Thanksgiving I Spy. This is a great way to share a few items that students might see around the Thanksgiving holiday. It is also a great way to occupy little minds, at least for a short period of time!
I hope your little learners enjoy Grace’s Thanksgiving and the Thanksgiving I Spy Activity. What activities does your family do for Thanksgiving?
