Christmas time is here! There is so much to do! So many things to keep us busy. Make sure you make some quiet time to read a loud with your little ones this Christmas. There are so many great Christmas books to share and I will be giving you some great ideas over the next few weeks, but today is all about the classic story of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. This is such a great story and I am sure that many children have seen the cartoon of Rudolph, but how many have read the story?
If you don’t have a copy be sure to visit your local library to grab a copy to share. Along with this great story we have made a cute craft that is sure to have your readers excited about Rudolph!
This is such a simple craft but kids love it every time we make them! There are only a few supplies needed for this project:
- Christmas colored light bulbs (These can be found in a pack of four where the Christmas lights are sold.)
- Pom-poms (red if you are making Rudolph brown or black for other reindeer)
- Wiggly eyes
- Pipe cleaners for the antlers
- Hot glue gun (only use with adult supervision)
- Beads, string, or ribbon to hang your ornament
Use your hot glue gun to add the eyes and nose. Make your antlers with your pom-poms. You may need to cut them to make them small enough. Glue on your antlers. Add your hanger so you can hang it on the tree! There you have your Rudolph ornament!
Make sure you check out the resource library for a fun counting 1-10 activity that goes perfectly with Rudolph! I have made a Christmas Light Counting Activity 1-10. This activity is a great way to practice counting objects 1-10 and recognizing numbers 1-10.
I will be adding more goodies to the library throughout the month so be sure to check back! I hope that you enjoy reading the story of Rudolph and making the craft and counting during the month of December!
